Emily Austin
MS, DVM, ACVIM-SAIM
Dr. Emily Austin is originally from Baltimore, MD. She received her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Michigan State University. She completed a rotating small animal internship at Tufts University and a small animal internal medicine residency at Auburn University. While completing her residency, she also obtained a Master of Science. Dr. Austin is interested in all aspects of small animal internal medicine, particularly immune-mediated disease, infectious disease, liver disease, endocrinology, complex multiple disease management, and pain management for geriatric patients. She performs abdominal ultrasound imaging, various endoscopic procedures (including bronchoscopy, esophagoscopy, gastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy, and rhinoscopy), feeding tube placement, bone marrow aspirate/biopsy, and ultrasound-guided aspirates.
Dr. Austin strives for excellence through collaborative patient care with primary care veterinarians, other specialists, and clients. Another one of her primary goals is to foster client education. She enjoys spending time with family (husband and daughter), outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, and painting. She also loves spending time with her pets – a lab mix named Tanner, a GSD named Mudd and 3 cats: Janis Joplin, B.B. King, and Pink.
