Kristy Broaddus
Founder, DVM, MS, DACVS
Dr. Kristy Broaddus has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2001, with ACVS board certification in surgery since 2006. She has extensive surgical expertise including four additional years of training beyond veterinary school to provide her with advanced small animal surgery skills. Her special interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. Along with her specialized training, Dr. Broaddus equally strives to offer compassionate and comforting care to all of her patients.
Originally from Michigan, Dr. Broaddus completed her premedical training at Georgetown University and headed back home to earn her veterinary degree from Michigan State University. She then completed her small animal surgery and medicine internship and residency at Auburn University in Alabama. Dr. Broaddus spent three years as faculty at Oklahoma State University teaching and practicing surgery, and is a national speaker, regularly lecturing and teaching techniques with hands-on laboratory sessions at VMX, the world’s largest veterinary event. She also speaks locally at the Virginia Academy of Small Animal Medicine and the Colonial Veterinary Conference in Williamsburg.
Dr. Broaddus practiced in Richmond for 10 years, and now lives and practices locally in Mechanicsville with her husband, Charlie Broaddus, also a veterinarian and local native whom she met while at Auburn University. The Broaddus family enjoys living on an ever expanding “minifarm” with chickens, sheep and beef cattle. During her spare time, Dr. Broaddus loves hanging out with her husband, three children and family pets— a Bluetick Coonhound, two Chocolate Labradors, two Toy Poodles, a Terrier, and five cats.
